As Paxil began to be widely distributed, side effects began to emerge. There were routine side effects, such as headache, nausea, weakness and insomnia. But some people reported much more serious problems. Numerous people said that they began to have suicidal thoughts while taking the drug. Others became violent. A number of Paxil lawsuits have been filed charging that taking Paxil led them to commit crimes.
