A true rennasaince man, Jon Tiven has covered rock and blues almost from the time he could talk. As a teen Jon founded his own rock newsletter and became so proficient he was able to parlay his ability as a writer into a professional career with aritcles and reviews in Rolling Stone, Creem and other rock magazines. At the same time, he was developing a keen guitar style influenced by legends Steve Cropper, Don Covay, Curtis Mayfield and Jimi Hendrix.

As a player and most notably a songwriter, Jon and his wife Sally have contributed material to Huey Lewis, Jeff Healy, Ronnie Spector and Robert Cray just to name a few. Jon has lent his production talents to projects that include, B.B. King, Graham Parker, Don Covay, Alex Chilton and various tribute allbums. All the time Jon kept recording and storing away material for the album that was to finally be released under his own name. "Jon Tiven's Ego Trip / Blue Guru" (FOUNTAINBLEU 21004).

This album shows Jon Tiven at the peak of his powers, piercing guitar work, strong writing and clean production make for a heady combination. Along with singer Alan Merrill (former singer of the English band The Arrows and writer of "I Love Rock & Roll"), Sally Tiven, and Todd Snare, The Ego Trip make Blue Guru a rolicking journey through Memphis tinged Blues and Rock.

With his talents firmly established, the future appears wide open for Jon Tiven.
